FASZINATION MODELLBAU Friedrichshafen with Real Steam Hall Meeting & LEGO Fan Exhibition, November 3-5, 2023.
Preparations are underway for the world’s largest modelling event! From November 3 to 5, 2023, the trade show FASZINATION MODELLBAU Friedrichshafen will open its doors, together with the Echtdampf-Hallentreffen and the LEGO Fan Exhibition. And already now – shortly after the start of the registration phase – the renowned companies of the industry have announced their presence. It’s going to be a hot autumn of trade fairs on Lake Constance.
All divisions, for all generations
Model airplanes, ships and trucks, RC cars, steam engines, railroads and the fascinating world of the LEGO fan exhibition. At this mega fair there is simply everything, for all generations. For three days, visitors to the border triangle on Lake Constance will experience intensive shows and new product presentations, but they can also get right in the middle of things themselves with many hands-on activities and events.
Airshow with alpine panorama: FMT stars of the year
You won’t find this anywhere else: a model air show at a commercial airfield. In front of the unique mountain panorama of the Lake Constance Airport Friedrichshafen, the best pilots of the year present themselves. It is world, European and German champions who push the boundaries here and demonstrate what is possible to the maximum today with their spectacular flying displays. We will experience all classes of model flying: from highly dynamic jets and prototypical large models to crisp 3D helicopter aerobatics and physically demanding glider competition disciplines.
The perfect mix will be provided by the newly added manufacturer demonstrations, where we will see the top new products of the coming season live in the sky for the first time. And with the displays of the FMT eagle models, the best products of the year are at the start. As usual, the airshow spectacle will take place over the entire duration of the fair, from Friday to Sunday.
FMT indoor action: crowd puller in the foyer
While the FMT stars of the year are holding their rendezvous outside on the grounds of the Bodensee-Airport Friedrichshafen and the large A3 hangar is buzzing, the FMT indoor action is drawing the crowds inside. No wonder, given what’s on offer here: on the 30×30 m airfield in the West Foyer, we experience hangar planes with flying weights of just one to two grams, but equally huge homebuilts made of Depron and even impeller jets flying around the corners.
However, the demonstration repertoire of the FMT indoor action includes not only self-built unique models, but also series models: At the manufacturer’s flying we see models in the Foyer West, which make indoor flying possible for everyone at a reasonable price, even for the beginner.
Truck course: Heavy metal in model format
Tractors, cranes, tracked vehicles and hydraulically controlled construction machinery. There’s nothing that can’t be found on the huge truck model course in Hall A4: RC off-road vehicles steer through the most difficult terrain, over bridges and rocks, even the winch is needed at times. Next to it, snowcats work their way through the artificial snow and prepare perfect ski slopes. We admire the maneuvering skills of the prototypical RC trucks with their huge, multi-axle heavy-duty trailers. Excavators shovel away the earth, bulldozers level it, heavy military vehicles make their way with impressive effects. Great cinema!
Racing action with RC cars and race copters
The contrast program to the truck heavyweights runs in Hall B1: Fast-as-an-arrow RC cars in scales of 1:8 and 1:10 – but also RC motorcycles – thunder around the circuit. Not just for show! At the German Open RC-Car Masters every position is fought for, here the best pilots of the scene compete.
High-frequency racing sound also reaches our ears from Hall B4: Insect-like, the race copters shoot around the pylons to fly onto the podium at the FPV Drone Championship Final. Must have experienced.
Captain patent in the big water basin
RC sailboats passing majestically in front of the meditative blue of the water – that’s what we enjoy in the 400 m² indoor pool of Hall A5 and outside on the fair lake. But not only! Racing boats mill by with powerful fountains, and sea rescue drills even include extinguishing a burning ship. And again this year, future model ship builders can earn the popular captain’s patent at the children’s race.
With all senses: Real Steam Hall Meeting
It smokes, steams and stomps: For the more than four kilometers of track – which is also unique in the world – two entire exhibition halls are needed on the large site in Friedrichshafen. And best of all, the fascinating scaled-down railroads at the Echtdampf-Hallentreffen are not just there to look at. Here we are even allowed to climb on and ride on the course! It is just as exciting next to the tracks when the road steam engines of the many exhibitors pass by snorting.
Model railroad layouts to dream
You’ll ride in dioramas that are rich in detail, over precisely recreated historic bridges, legendary train stations, and Alpine passes: In Halls A1 and A2, we find model railroad layouts of all gauges. But also the top manufacturers in the industry with locomotives, track systems and the finest detailing accessories. Children and adults alike will be amazed and enthralled, and can also discover their own creativity at the many hands-on stations, get a taste of this fascinating hobby – or talk intensively with experts and get advice.
Fascinating world of LEGO bricks
The cult stones are coming to Friedrichshafen again! And they fill the entire hall A6: with famous buildings, even entire city districts, streetscapes and sceneries. It’s a colorful world all its own that we’re immersed in at the LEGO fan exhibition. A world created with incredible precision and attention to detail – only with LEGO bricks. And here, too, we are not only amazed, but are also allowed to touch the stones ourselves at many creative hands-on stations.
